Executive Director Position

Position: Executive Director, Yolo County Historical Museum (YCHM-The Gibson House)

Mission of YCHM: The Yolo County Historical Museum’s mission is to preserve and protect the historical heritage and culture of Yolo County and actively tell its story to the community through the Gibson House Museum, its buildings, grounds, and collections.

The YCHM Board of Directors is seeking an individual to fill the part-time position of Executive Director.  The duties of the Executive Director include:

·         Works with the board to develop the strategic direction and establish initiatives to fulfill the mission of the Museum and increase local, statewide awareness

·         Fundraising and Development: The ED will work with the Board to manage on-going fundraising activities, special events and cultivate relationships.

·         Collections Management and Exhibits: The ED will coordinate standing and temporary exhibits, and facilitate management of the museum collection

·         Facilities Management: The ED will coordinate care and maintenance of the main house, other buildings and grounds

·         Volunteer Coordination: The ED will work closely with the school-tour docents, Gibson Gardeners and other volunteers to maintain the operations of the museum

·         Oversee Personnel: The ED will hire and supervise employees and independent contractors as needed to maintain the operations of the museum.

Compensation: To be determined based on experience, the museum budget, and if the right candidate is interested in on-site housing.
